We’re a publicly traded private equity firm with our common shares listed on the TSX Venture exchange under the trading symbol WI.
Our primary objective is to generate sustainable long-term wealth for our valued shareholders. We achieve this by diligently curating a diverse portfolio of robust and prosperous Western-based companies, while actively supporting their growth and prosperity.
At the core of our investment approach lies a steadfast commitment to the long-term perspective. Rather than being driven solely by short-term gains, we base our decisions on the strategic vision and enduring value potential of the companies we invest in.
Central to our investment philosophy is our “Western Sensibility” operating model. This approach places our shareholders’ interests at the forefront, striving to optimize returns through a prudent and disciplined management of expenses, in alignment with the revenue generated.
Western’s dividend policy is to pay annual dividends to Shareholders based on funds generated and received from its associates. The level of dividends is reviewed annually by the Board of Directors. The declaration of each dividend is subject to the satisfaction of solvency tests under applicable corporate law.
Dividends may be designated as “eligible” under the Income Tax Act (Canada) and any corresponding provincial legislation as outline below. Under this legislation, individuals resident in Canada may be entitled to enhanced dividend tax credits which reduce income tax otherwise payable.
